Play with friends

Online trivia with friends, with room to guess.

You do not need the exact answer to join in. Choose a range, compare it with your friends and see whose estimate was closest without missing.

Start a private game

A private lobby gives your group a shared place to play. Each person uses their own browser; there is no need to share a screen or install an app. Approx is available to players aged 16 and over.

  1. Create a custom game and choose private visibility.
  2. Share the invitation link with your friends.
  3. Choose your rules, check the players are ready and start.

Make the game fit your group

Choose categories and difficulties, the number of rounds, timers and available power-ups. Presets provide a starting point, and you can edit the values before playing.

Timed games move along automatically. A manually advanced game gives the host control over the pace. Add bots if you want more opponents.

How a multiplayer answer works

Every question has a numerical answer. Enter a lower and upper bound that you think contain it. A correct narrow range can beat a much wider correct range; a range that misses gets no points.

The scoring depends on the game rules and the other submissions, so there is no universal points value for any one range. You can submit one bound when you want an exact guess.

Joining a public game instead

Custom games can also be public, allowing people browsing the game list to join. Private games are intended for invited players. Keep invitation links within your group if you want the lobby to stay private.
